Alexandre Mattiussi created Ami Paris’s 2022 Spring Summer collection for a world transitioning out of Covid-19 lockdown and back into collective life. The SS22 Show is an extension of the same theme.
This carnival funfair stands in the uncanny space between completely deserted and full capacity. But this liminal setting, though somewhat surreal and unsettling, is nonetheless charged with glamor and excitement. A season of transition becomes a time of promise, an electric moment for building desire, as we return to normalcy – and it’s Ami’s brand that provides the joy and sensuality necessary to romanticize it.
